Supervisor of Assessments Office
The Supervisor of Assessments office is responsible for the oversight of the valuation of all real property within Kankakee County for the purpose of real estate assessment. The office of the Supervisor of Assessments performs a primary role in local government, providing a central resource for county residents. Equitable assessment assures property owners that they are paying their fair share of the costs of basic public services. It is the mission of the Supervisor of Assessments to provide efficient and equitable administration of the assessment/tax cycle.
The duties of this office include, but are not limited to:
- Apply homestead exemptions
- Maintain property ownership map or cadastral
- Maintain and update parcel ownership/tax roll
- Maintain copy of township property record
- Prepare IDOR abstracts and statistical reports
- Process property transfer declaration forms
- Perform local equalization
- Provide for publication of assessment changes
- Provide for notification of assessment changes
- Maintain farmland assessments
- Clerk to the Board of Review*
